Daily health checks

The pre-use inspection, captured where the defect is found.

Overview

A per-asset daily inspection with a checklist drawn from the asset type, a serviceability outcome, and a direct path from a failed check to a work order — so a defect found at 6 am is a tracked job by 6.05 am.

Step by step

Work through these in order the first time. After that, steps two to four are the daily loop.

  1. Pick the asset

Log Health Check accepts the asset number or the local GSE number. The checklist that loads is the one mapped to that asset's type in the checklist library.

  2. Work the inspection in order

Run the list as written rather than skipping to what you suspect. The value of a standard checklist is that it catches the thing you were not looking for.

  3. Set the outcome honestly

An unserviceable outcome takes equipment out of use, which is exactly what it is for. Add a note describing what was found — it is the only context the person raising the work order will have.

  4. Link the defect to a work order

Record the defect date and the work-order number on the same record. That link is what lets the monthly report show how long defects sat between discovery and repair.

  5. Close the loop

When the repair is done, set date repaired. A check with a defect date and no repair date is an open exposure, and the report treats it as one.

  6. Report monthly

The monthly report filters by date, station and status and exports to Excel or PDF — the usual evidence pack for a compliance or audit request.

Notes from the field

Behaviour that is easy to miss from the interface alone.
